Sinodun Hill Therapy Centre is Dr Dan White's specialist private practice in South Oxfordshire, offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to adults in Wallingford, Didcot, Abingdon, Oxford, Henley and online across the UK. Sessions are one to one, either face to face or online, with a therapist who works at specialist level in the NHS and trains other therapists.
Most people arriving here are not looking for a particular model of therapy. They are looking for something to shift, to get them unstuck. My job is to work out with you which approach, or which combination, is most likely to do that.
I am trained in three, and I move between them as the work requires.
A structured, practical and well-evidenced approach to anxiety, depression, OCD, panic and low self-esteem. CBT looks at the patterns of thinking and behaviour that keep difficulties going, and gives you tools you can use long after therapy ends. I am accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), the recognised standard for CBT in the UK.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is recommended by NICE for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder in adults. It helps the brain to reprocess distressing memories so that they lose their charge, without requiring you to talk through the detail of what happened. I have completed standard EMDR training accredited by EMDR Europe and offer EMDR both in person in Oxfordshire and online.
IFS offers a compassionate way of understanding the different parts of us that pull in different directions: the inner critic, the perfectionist, the part that shuts down. It is particularly useful where difficulties have proved persistent, where self-criticism runs deep, or where a history of trauma sits underneath. I am trained to Level 1 with the IFS Institute and offer both IFS therapy and IFS-informed CBT.
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist accredited with the BABCP, with over twenty years of clinical experience across the NHS and private practice. I hold an MSc and a DPhil from the University of Oxford.
Alongside my private practice I hold two roles that keep my work close to current evidence:
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist within the NHS at the Oxford Health Specialist Psychological Intervention Centre. This role involves providing specialised therapy for complex and difficult-to-treat conditions.
I am also a Course Lead and Supervisor at the renowned Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre (OCTC), where I am involved in training and supervising the next generation of CBT therapists.
I have completed standard EMDR training accredited by EMDR Europe, and Level 1 training with the IFS Institute. What that means in practice is that you are not limited to one method. If the structured skills of CBT are what you need, that is what we will do. If a memory needs processing, or a long-standing pattern needs approaching from a different angle, we have somewhere else to go.
I work with adults experiencing:
Generalised anxiety and excessive worry
Depression and burnout
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma, including single-incident trauma such as accidents, assaults, medical procedures and birth trauma
Obsessive compulsive disorder and intrusive thoughts
Health anxiety
Panic attacks and panic disorder
Social anxiety
Phobias, including emetophobia
Agoraphobia
Low self-esteem and persistent self-criticism
Work-related stress
Misophonia
I see clients face to face in South Oxfordshire, within easy reach of Wallingford, Didcot, Abingdon, Cholsey, Benson, Oxford, Henley-on-Thames and Reading. I also work online with clients across the UK, which includes online CBT, online EMDR and online IFS therapy. Many people find the flexibility of online sessions makes therapy possible when travel or working hours would otherwise get in the way.

You do not need to decide before we speak. We will discuss what you are struggling with at the outset and agree an approach together, and it is common to move between approaches as the work develops.
Yes. I work online with clients throughout the UK, and online sessions are as structured and as effective as face-to-face work for most presentations.
It varies with what you bring. Focused work on a specific anxiety difficulty may take somewhere between eight and twenty sessions. Longer-standing patterns or complex trauma typically take longer. We will review progress regularly so that you always know where you are.
Fees and payment details are on the Pricing page.
If you are considering therapy and would like to talk it through, do get in touch. I will usually reply within two working days, and there is no obligation to book.
